Multigrain Bread Upma

Ingredients

  • Torned multigrain bread- 2-3 slices
  • Unsalted sunflower seeds- 1 tsp
  • Oil- ¼ tsp
  • Mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)- ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves (kadi patta)- 3-4 leaves
  • Ginger-garlic paste- ½ tsp
  • Finely chopped green chillies- 1no.
  • Finely chopped onions- 1 tbsp
  • Finely chopped tomatoes- 1 small
  • Carrot chopped- 10 gms
  • Turmeric powder (haldi)- a pinch
  • Red chilli powder- ¼ tsp
  • Lemon juice- ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped green coriander (dhania)-1 tbsp




Method

  1. Heat the oil in a broad pan and add the mustard seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle add the curry leaves, ginger-garlic paste, green chilies and onion and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, 2 tbsp of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while mashing lightly with the help of a ladle.
  4. Add the lemon juice and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.
  5. Add the bread, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.
  6. Switch off the flame, add the coriander and mix well.
  7. Serve hot.
