Oats Upma

Ingredients

  • Oats – 20 gms
  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds ( rai / sarson) – 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp 
  • Curry leaves (kadi patta) – 4-5 nos.
  • Green chilli , slit green chillies – 1 no.
  • Onion – 1 small
  • Carrot – 1 tbsp 
  • Green peas – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander – for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds once it begins to crackle add curry leaves,green chilli,turmeric & oats saute for 2-3 minutes or till it turns light brown in colour, stirring occasionally.
  2. Drop in onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute or till the onions turn translucent. Add the all the veggies and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  3.  Add 1 cup of water, cover and cook on a slow flame for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve immediately garnished with coriander.
